A Pregnant Woman Goes to a Phillies Game…

We’re getting ready to celebrate July 4th and it reminded me of the 4th of July 10 years ago when I was pregnant out to here with Cassie. Sweet Cassie, who wouldn’t be born for another month. Sweet Cassie who left me to be hot, bloated and miserable on the 4th ten years ago.

Ten years ago, we were living outside of Philly and this particular July 4th, the Rooster and I thought it would be a GREAT idea to take 1 and 2 to a Phillies game! In downtown Philadelphia! In July!

Did I mention that I was 800 months pregnant? I think it’s important for women to continue living their lives when they’re pregnant, whether it’s going to see sports events, going house hunting with http://www.essexhomes.net/greenville-spartanburg/greenville, or continuing with a hobby like rock climbing; don’t sacrifice your happiness by being overprotective.

So we buy our tickets, grab the girls and head downtown for an awesome family day. What could possibly go wrong, right?

First of all, any of us who have ever been pregnant knows that a pregnant woman’s sense of smell is more sensitive than a 15-year-old girl. Do you know what happens when you get a bunch of Phillies fans in the hot sun with ballpark franks and warm Yuengling?

They puke.

They puke like a pregnant woman the first 3 months she’s pregnant. And they don’t make a run for the bathroom. They puke right where they are and then find the beer and hotdog guy to refill and then they puke again. Add that to a stadium in 95 degree temperatures and your life is suddenly hell. It’s nasty and the smell is something they should pump thru the air systems of prisons.

Second.. you know who LOVES baseball games? A lot of people.

You know who doesn’t? A 2-year-old.

I’m not sure why they charged us for a 2-year-old because the only thing she wanted to do was NOT sit and watch the game. She was more interested in walking around the puke-covered seating area disturbing those who DID want to watch the game than actually watching the game. So what’s one to do? Well, this day, the 800 month pregnant woman took the hyper 2-year-old out to run amuck in the corridors of the ballpark. I’m not sure if I was bitter or grateful over this one but I’m pretty sure I played both sides of that coin.

That particular game was the one during the Phillies season where the kids get to run the bases and honestly, that’s the entire reason we took the kids and braved the heat, crowd and pregnancy. It’s one of the best memories for the Rooster which means it’s a great one for me..

Before we moved, we managed to get a couple more of these games in (luckily with me NOT pregnant) and somehow, the last one, I managed to get this awesome shot of Sydney in action.. Check her out in front of all those boys! Eat my dust, fellas!!

I love baseball games, but not so much when I was pregnant! I was pregnant in August once, so I can just imagine the misery. And all of the walking… Stopped by from the LOBS–new follower. Nice to meet you!

I’ve never been to a baseball game and we had 2 baseball teams (Yankees & Mets). I lived about 15 minutes from the Yankee stadium when I was younger then when I got married about 30 minutes from Shea (Mets) stadium. I couldn’t possibly imagine going while pregnant. LOL about being 800 months pregnant, it does feel that way sometimes doesn’t it? I got to LOL this morning and the picture of her leading the boys is adorable. I’m now following on bloglovin. πŸ™‚

My oldest was born July 9th and I remember July 4th four years ago today so well. We were at a BBQ and I ate a hot dog but I was scared of eating a hot dog because I didn’t want that to be the last thing I ate before labor…
Luckily it wasn’t! I don’t remember what it was as I went into labor at 4:00 am and went 24 hours without food!
Pukers in a crowd in July! Terrible. Are you talking adults?! I sorta figured so by the beer but I can’t imagine that adults do that outside of college.

OMG.. can you imagine if that was your last meal? Although, with #2 it could have been since that’s what I craved the whole time. No lie. And yeah.. guess you’ve never been to Philly πŸ˜‰

Yikes!! My oldest and youngest were both born in August and I was miserable through both of those summers. I cannot even imagine how awful it must have been for you at that game! Happy 4th!

Oh girl. We did the local Triple A baseball for Father’s Day (I was thankfully not pregnant), and I was so hot by the time we left I thought I would die! You are a good sport!-Ashley

Yikes. Does not sound like a stellar outing at the ballpark. But kind of a funny story after the fact!
