Giveaway – Get Going Faster with Keurig!!

Ding, ding, ding!! That sound is the sound of school going back all around our area! Today is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!! And while I’m excited to get back into a routine, there’s one thing that willKeurig Coffee System giveaway take getting used to – getting up earlier than we have for the past 2 months. And thanks to WSFCS thinking that middle school should start at 7:20, in this house that alarm goes off at 6am.

Or as I like to say – the butt crack of dawn.

Believe me when I say that I leave no minute unturned when it comes to our school morning routine. There is no waking up earlier than I need to to sit at the kitchen table with a steaming pot of coffee that’s served with toast and eggs. I’d love if that were the case, but it’s just not happening.

But coffee is a must, so what’s a Mama Hen to do?

Up until 6 years ago, I used to program my maker to brew a pot of coffee to be ready by the time I stumbled downstairs. (And let me tell you, there was nothing worse than getting downstairs only to discover something had gone wrong and all I had was an empty pot.) Then, one year, the Rooster got the flu and decided that after a week of caffeine detox, he wasn’t going to go back to coffee and believe it or not, he hasn’t.

Now if you know me, the last thing I need is a full pot of coffee all to myself, so I made the move to Keurig. I’ve jumped back to a regular coffee pot a couple of times, but Keurig makes it SO easy to get a perfect cup of coffee and since it’s just me drinking it, it’s worth the extra money for the K-cups to get what I want, when I want it. Keurig’s come a long way since I bought mine and the variety of K-Cups is incredible. There is every kind of coffee you could want (including my favorite Green Mountain as well as the always popular Starbucks), hot tea, hot cocoa and my latest favorite – Brew Over Ice.

My back to school tip is to start getting the kids up earlier a few weeks before school starts so that they are ready for the early mornings again. I have always wanted a Keurig, a sort of spoil me with delicious coffees time. i would savor it every morning 🙂

Every night before my children go to sleep, I have them check their backpacks for any forgotten permission slips or needed baked goods for the following day. This really helps as there is no last minute oh, mom I forgot to tell you… The Keurig would help me in the morning as no matter how organized I am, it seems like I always forget to set the coffee maker and I absolutely love coffee!

Wait for sales and wait for the school check list. If you buy too early, teachers at younger levels can be too picky and won’t allow you to use a wrong colored folder!

We lay out what my children will be wearing the night before and make sure that jackets, shoes and bookbags are by the door.
This would be great because I would be able to have a quick cup of coffee in the morning before waking my children. Instead of having to wait for our old, slow coffee pot to brew me one.

Like a lot of other people have already said, do things the night before. Have the lunches packed and ready to go, clothes picked out etc. A Keurig would really help me save time because it brews up a cup so fast. I won’t be waiting around for it and can walk right out the door!

August 29, 2013 at 9:35 pm

My best time saving tip for any day is to make your own pre-portioned healthy snacks. Prep nutrient dense snacks like fruit & veggies with a greek yogurt dip and place in reusable containers ahead of time so everyone can grab them when in a rush! You can avoid processed snacks easily if you plan ahead. It saves money too!
I know that a Keurig will help me save time because I’ve had a Keurig Mini for a few years. Sadly, it isn’t working well anymore. I used it so much that it got a little tired. I’d love to win a bigger machine so I can make iced drinks easily.

Best time-saving tip – pack lunches the night before! I don’t know if a Keurig would save me time – I don’t currently brew coffee in the morning – but it sure wouldn’t take much time to help me super-charge things in the AM! (Would it be bad to put a Keurig in the master suite? So I wouldn’t even have to walk to the kitchen for coffee?)

The best back to school saver tip I have is buying snacks and lunch meat in bulk from Costco and making lunches the night before.

Living on a farm, raising a special needs child, writing a book… my time is precious. Making coffee in seconds? Thats EXACTLY what I need!

August 28, 2013 at 2:46 am

Coffee gets my daughter moving in the morning, so that alone is a big time saver! But getting stuff done ahead of time is probably my best tip.

I want a keurig so bad! I’m having trouble in my house bc I am the only one that drinks coffee, so, it’s either make a whole pot and drink it (which isn’t that bad of an idea) or make a whole pot and drink one cup (happens a lot do to the fact that I like to sleep)!! Luckily, my sweet little preschooler doesn’t have to be at preschool until 9am, and then me at work shortly after!

Checklists – lots of checklists – for my girls. They save us a lot of the scattered I don’t know what to do next time in the mornings.

P.S. Please pick me 🙂

My best way to get bag into the groove of school is to plan my menus ahead of time; for each meal of the day, not just dinner. This helps us all know what is going on in the kitchen. A Keurig would be a treat to this routine.
