Happy Friends-giving Month!!

Did you see what happened last week? While you were helping the kids eat their candy, November showed up like a dirty thief in the night. And now that it’s relaxing with netflix streamteamNovember you know what that means. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, Christmas is this weekend and 2015 is early next week.

Okay.. I jest but doesn’t it feel that way? That once Halloween is over it is all downhill from there. I am not an anti-holiday person, I promise. But I do feel like time is spinning out of control and that we are all so busy that we just don’t have or take the time to really enjoy what the holidays are supposed to be about – slowing down and truly enjoying the people who mean the most to you. Instead we’re running from store to store and party to party. Creating “pinnable” crafts and recipes for the perfect Instagram shot.

Can we just stop for one second and breathe? One of my favorite ways to just slow down is streaming movies and shows on Netflix with the Rooster and the girls. He and I have our favorite shows (hello… Breaking Bad and OITNB?!) and we’re already contemplating our next binge-watch (thinking House of Cards) for our post-Christmas hibernation.

While I love spending time with him, the time that I’m really seeing getting shorter and shorter is with the girls.  Remember when your kids were little and  that nice old lady down the street or your mom looked at you and said “enjoy the time because it’s gone too soon” and you were like “OMG take them NOW!” and you didn’t mean it but you were SO OVER it all? Yeah.. we’re staring down the barrel of the end now and it’s sad. So in addition to the list of shows that I want to watch with him, I have a list of shows and movies to watch with them and we’re starting with the Gilmore Girls!!! (YES! I am the one person who has never seen the whole series!!)

If you’re looking for a great list of shows to stream with your bestie, spouse, boyfriend or older kids (the kids will be home from college!!), here are a few from Netflix to get you started:

1. Rory and Lorelai: Gilmore Girls

2. Schmidt and Nick: New Girl

3. Ted and Barney: How I Met Your Mother

4. Liz and Jack: 30 Rock

5. Walter and Jesse: Breaking Bad

6. Mulder and Scully: The X-Files

7. Wayne and Garth: Wayne’s World

As you get ready to welcome your friends and family into your homes, what movies or shows to you remember sharing with them?

Oh and FYI.. the ultimate show about friendship – Friends!! — all 10 seasons of them — hit the service Jan. 1 so mark your calendars!

I never watched Gilmore Girls before. We just finished Season #3 and I’ll admit it; I LOVE this show. I find myself getting mad at them. But, yeah, I love the show.

My husband and I started watching 24. We never watched it, and there are about a million episodes. Amazing to me that Jack Bauer has to make 24 episodes per season, while Downton Abbey gets by with 6. Anyway, watching a series is kind of nice because you don’t have to decide each time “what should we watch?”
