Cry Me a (frozen) River – Ladies Only Blog Share #LOBS

Baby it’s cold outside!

Don’t laugh but I have a thing for cold weather. I moved to Chicago in JANUARY for Pete’s sake and lived there not just once, but twice. Then I moved to Vail. And then there were the 7 years the family and I lived outside of Philly. So we dig snow and now that we live back in NC we don’t see it. Ever.

Now THIS is snow.

My kids miss the snow… so much in fact that the first year we lived back in NC, Sydney was 5 at the time and proclaimed that she wanted to move BACK to PA so that she could have snow again. She was willing to dump her new friends over some frozen precipitation.

This week’s #LOBS party topic is a little funny to me. It’s all about what to do with your kids (and you!) when you get cabin fever in the winter. If anything, my kids get the opposite of cabin fever in the winter… they WANT to be snowed in – even just for a day. Although, truth be told, when there’s even a trace of snow here you can guarantee that schools will close for at least 2 days and the stores will be void of milk and bread. #NoLie

So tell us your favorite tricks, crafts, recipes (soup!!) and cocktails that help you thru the deep freeze! As always, my lovely co-hosts are bringing the noise and the support!

Hi Kristen. Found your blog on the Blog Share Link Up Party 🙂 My kids love snow too and would love to be snowed in. Unfortunately, we live in Southern California and have a few hours drive to the snow in the mountains. BTW-I grew up in Hawaii and had never seen snow until I was in my twenties! My first time seeing snow was when I was visiting Chicago.

Well I am breaking the topic rules to share a story of my daughter’s heart… perhaps that will warm people up a bit!!! 🙂

Oh I *so* feel Sydney. I grew up in St. Louis where snow falls and then stays around forever because it’s actually cold in the winter. It was SUCH an adjustment when I moved to the south. You are lucky if you see a few whispy flurries every few years. (and it’s rarely cold enough that you actually need to button your winter coat). I miss the snow a lot, too!!! (and I miss being able to wear real sweaters without being sweaty) –Lisa

My kids love to be snowed in! And truth be told, I like a snow day once in a while too!
