Easy & Yummy Edible Cookie Dough

How to Make Edible Cookie DoughA cookie dough recipe that's perfectly safe to eat!! Edible cookie dough recipe that's as east to make as it is yummy!

There were plenty of days when I was single that sitting down with a bottle of wine and a tub of cookie dough was a perfectly acceptable dinner. Okay.. it still is but most of us are a little bit more squeamish about eating traditional cookie dough because of the eggs. (I still wonder how Rocky stayed alive by downing that awful egg drink concoction when he was training in the movie…)

There are a couple of companies out there who have capitalized on our love for eating cookie dough – I mean it IS the ultimate comfort food – but they’re expensive and in my opinion, really don’t taste that great. So I put out the call to the Facebook world for some recipes a few months ago and when Cassie begged for me to buy some this cold, rainy, weekend, I decided it was time to try our hands at edible cookie dough!

This recipe is for a basic, chocolate chip dough but if you’re looking for different ingredients, swap out the chocolate chips for whatever yummy ingredient you want! Or go crazy and add 2!! Ignore the sweetened condensed milk in the background.. that’s for fudge in a little bit!!!

Servings: cups
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until blended. Add milk and vanilla extract and mix until blended. Add flour and salt and mix until blended into a dough. Add chocolate chips (or whatever you're using). Put into sealable container and refrigerate whatever you didn't already eat!
Recipe Notes

If you don't finish the whole bowl at once, make sure you refrigerate what's left over. While there is no egg, there is butter and milk so if you leave it on the counter, it will go bad.

I used to not let my kids eat dough/batter for fear of the eggs. Nice to have an alternative, as cookie dough is sort of like ‘heaven food.’ That scene from Rocky still turns my stomach too:)
