It’s no secret that we binge watch a lot of shows in this house. 5 summers ago it was Weeds. 2 years ago it was Breaking Bad. Last year it was Sons of Anarchy and currently it’s Orange is the New Black (no we haven’t finished.. we’re trying to NOT binge watch a show for once…). But those are all VERY adult shows that we really can’t watch with the kids so, often, we’re either watching a movie or another show on Disney.
Not that those are bad options, but still…
When the girls were younger, they were in love with shows like Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, How to Train Your Dragon and other Japanime type productions. They’ve outgrown them but still enjoy catching the shows as they stream on Netflix.
This summer, Netflix released a whole new original series – Dragons: Race to the Edge – which is actually a prequel to the popular How to Train Your Dragon movies! 13 episodes take you thru the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless and their exploration of a new world that they never knew even existed outside of Berk. Of course, no real dragon adventure is complete without secret sources and some bad guys to make it more challenging!
Stepping away from the tv, Netflix and DreamWorks have created an entire online world where kids can make their own adventures – games, videos, dragon mastery training and even the BOOK to keep their imaginations interested and creating their own adventures!
Cassie and I sat down the other night to finally start our binge watching of Race to the Edge and it’s exactly what you’d expect from DreamWorks – beautiful colors and animation as well as characters voiced by some familiar Hollywood names. Out of the 13 episodes, we’ve watched the first 4 and already looking forward to the other 9. Netflix was kind enough to get us in the mood by sending some fun Dragon gear and munchies to snack on while we had our mini-binge night!
Can’t wait to watch Dragons with your crew? Check out the preview and you’ll see why everyone’s racing to watch!!
