Triad Love: Battledish Winston

Good Eats in the Twin City: Battledish Winston

You guys know how much the Rooster and I love to cook and eat. But with 3 kids and 2 jobs, we don’t battledish winstonget a take the chance to go out to eat that often, so when we do we like to E-A-T and eat well. One of the things that I love about living in Winston is the fact that we have so many amazing restaurants. I’ve said a million times that Greensboro has better chain restaurants (think PF Changs type chains, not Waffle House) but Winston wins hands down with independent restaurants. The choices and chefs are so varied and everything is so great.

When Kristi, who is the local ambassador for Dishcrawl here in the Triad, asked me to be a judge for next month’s Battledish Winston, who was I to say no? And I will admit, I squeaked a little I was so excited and honored. This is my 2nd “celebrity” judge role in the area and I love, love, love doing them. Even if the only person who thinks I’m a celebrity is my mom. And maybe Cassie.

What is Battledish Winston you ask? Battledish is an international chef competition where Chefs across North America will compete for various titles such as most delicious, most creative, best modern, best cocktail, and most authentic dish.

Battledish Winston will be the kick off for the first North Carolina event here in downtown Winston where six lucky chefs will sharpen their knives and serve their signature dishes on Saturday, February 8 at 2pm. Ticket holders will have a chance to vote for their favorites along with an esteemed panel of featured guest judges. (wait… I’m esteemed?? Kristi.. did you check my creds???) At the end of it all, only one chef will emerge King of Battledish! (I’m resisting the urge to pull an Iron Chef “À la cuisine” here..)

Okay.. so who are the 6 judges who are competing for the title here in Winston? Let’s meet them!

Chef Tim Grandinetti from Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar

Chef Shane Moore from Foothills Brewing

Chef Tim Walker from Small Batch Brewing

Chef Stuart Ford from Carolina Tap Room

Chef Kevin Reddick from Artisan Restaurant

Pitmaster Mark Little from Bib’s Downtown (dish only)

Jeffrey Adams on 4th – Cocktail Only

So which Chef shall reign supreme?? (sorry.. another Iron Chef reference!!) Who knows but let me tell you who’s excited to be part of the judging process?? That’s right! This girl!

Do you want to come out and eat and drink some incredibly creative and delicious food and drink some amazing cocktails? Come and join me and the Rooster and if you use the code “kdaukasfan”, you’ll get $10 off any ticket you choose!

I can’t wait for this event and it will be so fun to chat about it before the event and you know that I’ll be live posting the day of and then a recap once we’re done. If you’re local, I’d love to connect before and the day of the event and make it a full on experience the whole way thru!
